Welcome to The Early Childhood Center

Daily Documentation

In the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, documentation of children's work in progress is viewed as an important tool in the learning process for children, teachers, and parents. Photos of children engaged in experiences, along with their words as they discuss what they are doing, feeling and thinking, and the children's interpretation of experience through the visual media are displayed daily as a graphic presentation of the dynamics of learning. Documentation is used as assessment and advocacy. Other benefits of documentation include:

* Making parents aware of children’s experiences
* Maintaining parent involvement
* Allowing for teachers to understand children better
* Evaluating children’s work
* Providing a venue for children to recall and value their own work and the process of that work
* Facilitating communication and exchange ideas among teachers

Please come see our daily documentation outside the classroom on the ECC bulletin board and in the binder found next to the classroom door.
