THE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

The purpose of the technology program at The Community School is to foster computer literacy and the ethical use of technology as a tool for research and communication. The Community School provides a campus-wide computer network with access to computers, appropriate software, printers, the Internet, email, Library OPAC, and other devices / services. Use of the system is a privilege, not a right. The Community School is committed to universal access to the system for educational purposes by members of the community. With the privilege of using the system comes certain responsibilities. Users need to be familiar with these responsibilities. Failure to follow the policies, guidelines and to live up to these responsibilities will result in the loss of network privileges. See Acceptable Use Policy.

To fulfill its goal of computer literacy and the ethical use of Technology, the Technology department, in conjunction with the faculty from all three divisions of the school, has developed a curriculum. The curriculum takes a student from the introduction of computers in Kindergarten through the use of sophisticated multimedia presentation software and computer programming in the Upper School.
